1) ESTADOS UNIDOS:KENNETH D.BRANDT

Dear Dr. Calonje:

I did, indeed, receive a copy of the article you sent. You prove el the that experience confers wisdom.

Certainly your description is very clear. As an informed patient, you do an excellent job of relating the problems of OA. You provide an anecdotal perspective that is lacking in reports of randomized clinical trials. You must be a very valuable resource for your patients and the caregivers in your community.

Best wishes for a happy holiday.
Sincerely
Kenneth D. Brandt ,MD
Professor of Medicine and Orthopaedics Surgery. Indiana University School of Medicine. Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

2)INGLATERRA: MICHAEL DOHERTY

Dear Dr. Calonje:

Thank for sending the translation of your article. This did arrive safely and I apologize for not replying to you before. We will keep all the correspondence that we receive and consider it when we come to third edition of Osteoarthritis wich of course is based on evidence based principles.

Many thanks for your interest. Kind regards. Yours sincerely, Professor Michael Doherty Academic Rheumatology Clinical Sciences Buinding. Nottingham City Hospital. England

3) SUECIA: STEFAN LOHMANDER

Dear Dr. Calonje:

Let me first apologize for the very long delay to my response, but I have been spending time in the United States on an Academia sabbatical, and have only now caught up with my previous correspondence and e-mail.

To be brief, I very much agree with you in your emphasis on exercise as a “first-line” therapy for osteoarthritis. Your personal experience is supported by and increasing international literature. Morever, the recent European and Scandina-vian guidelines for the management of osteoarthritis stress the role of exercise as a basic treatment for Osteoarthritis, to which any other treatment may be added as needed.

I hope these brief comment support you in your continued work, and I wish you a healthy and happy 2005.
Best regards,
Professor Stefan Lohmander
University Hospital, Lund, Sweden.
